Champans is one of the most perfectly situated First Growths of Volnay, and we consistently love and follow this wine from Blain-Gagnard. In 2020 volumes are tiny, with just 1.5 barrels in their cellar. Saving every drop, these were sealed when we visited, so we cannot give our tasting note here, but past experience tells us that this will be a delicately floral, rounded, richly structured Volnay of great beauty and finesse. Jean-Marc Blain suggests this will come to maturity between 2025 and 2032+.
