2022 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge, Domaine Agnès Paquet

In 2022 this wine comes exclusively from a 40-year-old, 2-hectare vineyard in Meloisey, where 30cm of limestone-clay topsoil lies over deep limestone bedrock. 100% destemmed, it aged in a mixture of classic, 228l Burgundy barrels and larger, 500l barrels, which Agnès believes help to preserve the energy and vibrancy of this fruit-led cuvée. Colour is pale ruby, aromas being beautifully ripe and pure, recalling fresh strawberries. Full bodied and viviacious on the palate, this finishes with silkiness and lift. A delicious Pinot for early enjoyment (for drinking 2024-2026+).
