Château Carbonnieux is the Perrin family`s best known, and most prestigious property, which they bought in 1956. Brothers Eric and Philibert produce a classic Pessac red here, with superb ageing potential. The blend in 2020 is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, currently ageing in French oak barriques (40% new). Rich, deep purple-ruby colour, aromas are captivating and pure: floral blackcurrant with hints of liquorice. Palate is striking for its beautiful, silky texture, flavours being intense and finely woven. This is a freshly structured, charming 2020, with an harmonious, gently tannic aftertaste (for drinking 2028-2045+).
