2023 Château Canon, 1er Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion

Over the last decade this property has re-established itself at the very front of the best properties in Saint-Emilion. Lying on Saint-Emilion`s limestone-clay plateau, and in its last year of organic-conversion, in 2023, Merlot makes up 71% of the blend, with Cabernet Franc the balance. The wine is destined to age for 18 months in 50% new oak barrels, sourced from six different coopers. Deep purple-ruby, with intricately perfumed aromas, palate shows gorgeous fruit intensity of startling purity. This is a Saint-Emilion of incredible energy and vibrancy, being lacy and satiny, whilst having the firm structure and generous concentration required for bottle ageing. The finish is full of finesse (for drinking 2030-2048+).
