Located in South Africa`s Upper Hemel en Aarde on the Western Cape, Cap Maritime was set up by Marc Kent, who is also responsible for the prestigeous Boekenhoutskloof estate in Stellenbosch. This cooler climate area benefits from maritime influences, and is best known for its Burgundian varieties. Here we have a finely balanced, beautiful Chardonnay, which brings together ripe, powerful fruit with elegant freshness and finesse. Pale lemon-gold in the glass, aromas are tight, recall flinty spiced lemon. Palate is more expressive, having full, rich body, and intense, layered flavours of fresh lemon, mandarine and peach. There is no fat at all on this wine, being a pristine expression of Chardonnnay from the Western Cape, finishing with freshness and lovely length.

Since the 2008 vintage, we have been listing the Brajkovich family`s Kumeu River Chardonnays. Their 30 hectares of vineyards lie just north-west of Auckland, with brothers Milan and Michael Brajkovich MW being the skilled viticulturalist and oenologist team. These are exceptional, pristine wines, which are deservedly highly rated and globally recognised as being benchmark for non-Burgundy produced Chardonnay.
