Châteaumeillant is the smallest appellation in the Central Loire, covering a total of 90 hectares, lying in the foothills of the Massif Centrale. Pinot Noir and Gamay thrive here, on granite soils, this being a new discovery from Domaine Rouzé, who`s Quincy we have shipped for 3 decades. An unoaked blend of 80% Gamay with 20% Pinot Noir, this is bright, mid ruby-purple in colour, aromas being vital with floral red and black cherries. Palate is medium bodied and juicy, having excellent balance of ripeness with freshness and a supple, rounded, charming finish.

Jacques’ son Côme is now at the helm of this family domaine, farming 16 hectares in Quincy, along with plots in neighbouring Reuilly. Like his father, Côme is a Sauvignon Blanc expert, being passionate about producing bright, precise expressions of the region’s terroir, whilst respecting the environment. We have shipped their Villalin cuvée for more than 25 years, consistently loving the wine for its vibrancy, freshness and great value.
