2023 Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay, Kumeu

Hunting Hill is a windy site above Maté`s vineyard. Replanted in 2000, it classically gives taut, perfumed, mineral style of Chardonnay. The 2023 vintage here was both lighter in ripeness and lower in yield than previous recent years. The results are a style of Hunting Hill that has even more tension, restraint and raciness. with beautiful textural interest. Very pale lemon-gold colour, aromas are are delicate, pure and flinty, with notes of lime blossom. Palate is full and tightly woven, with fine concentration of floral, green citrus fruit. Texture is silky and fine, finishing with crisp, sleek, stony length (for drinking 2024-2030+).
