Lying in Austria`s eastern, Burgenland region, the Leithaberg is the last remnant of the Alps, as they reach towards the Pannonian Plain. Its unique, calcareous soil, coupled with cool winds from the Leithaberg Forest, lends the wines a mineral, finely structured character. Tinhof`s Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is from a plot of 30-50 year old vines. 50% of the cuvée aged in large wooden barrels, with 50% in stainless steel tanks, giving a wine that displays both roundness and lemony freshness. Pale lemon-green, aromas are shy, with hints of pear, white peach and fennel seed. Palate is medium bodied and silky, having good concentration of pure fruit, contained by chalky coolness. The finish is uplifting.
