Whilst Jean-Marc Roulot`s white wines tend to get most of the spotlight, his family has been making spirits in Meursault since 1866. “Distillers from father to son, we continue to be, to this day, owners of a family still with which we produce Marc and Fine Bourgogne,” says Jean-Marc. “I wanted to develop this activity by extending the distillation to fruit brandies and return to a work that my father, Guy Roulot, had experimented with long before me.”
The Bergeron apricots for this liqueur come from the Rhône valley orchards of Jean-Louis Chave. They were pitted and allowed to infuse in a neutral spirit over the course of a few months. The resulting infusion is almost caramel in colour, the nose having delicate aromas of perfectly ripe, fragrant apricots, with spice. The palate is juicy and intense with flavours of preserved apricots, the finish being long, fine and dry.

Jean-Marc Roulot produces some of Meursault’s most thrilling, perfectly-balanced wines. He has exemplary lightness of touch, the wines being exquisite expressions of individual vineyard sites, having precision and vibrancy. Their complexities develop harmoniously with bottle-age, whilst building length and retaining freshness. The domaine`s prestigeous reputation was established by Jean-Marc`s father, Guy, who was a legendary producer of some of the finest Meursaults. His sudden death in 1982 left the family in transition, as Jean-Marc was in Paris pursuing a career in acting. However, by 1989 Jean-Marc was ready to take on the direction of the domaine, deciding to turn his attention to the vines rather than pursue a full-time career on the stage or in front of the camera. The wines of Domaine Roulot are now among the most sought after of all of Burgundy. Jean-Marc has pioneered single-vineyard bottlings of Meursault, and is commited to a bright, chiselled, focused style of Meursault. In more recent years, he has also been re-establishing the family`s traditional craft of Eau de Vie and fruit liqueur production.
