In the 45 years that Jean-Paul Brun has run his family’s Terres Dorées domaine, he has built a reputation as one of the Beaujolais’ pre-eminent, quality-driven winemakers. Passionate and conscientious about his work, allowing the Gamay grape to excel is key to his philosophy in vines and cellar. Low yields, hand harvesting and sensitive maturation (“Gamay only likes oak a little,” he told us, “We do not want to overpower it!”) result in expressive wines of beauty and elegance, with fine, age-worthy structures.
