Domaine de Vavril

Located on the steep hillsides above the town of Beaujeu, Domaine de Vavril owns just over 10 hectares of vines, predominantly planted with Gamay. The history of the property dates back to the Middle Ages, at the heart of it being an impressive mansion. Sadly abandoned and neglected after the Second World War, the arrival of a new owner, Richard Brague, in 2004 brought investment and renovation of both the buildings and the land. In 2005, he brought in Beaujeu born and bred winemaker, Jean-Luc Ducruix, who was eager to initiate domaine bottling. Jean-Luc has a delicate touch in the winery. These are frank, charming expressions of Gamay, that could only come from the hills of the Beaujolais.
