This lovely property was acquired by Bernard Arnault, the head of Louis Vuitton Moët-Hennessy, back in 2015. His portfolio of great wines includes Cheval-Blanc and d’Yquem, so it is not surprising that he lost no time in up-grading, wherever possible, the facilities at Domaine des Lambrays. We have been buying these beautiful wines for three decades, and are full of admiration for the passionate commitment off the new owner and his team. The Clos des Lambrays dates from 1365, the Domaine now being housed in beautiful old buildings, in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis. The main vineyard covers 8.8 hectares of a single Grand Cru. Although not quite a Monopole (a vineyard in single hands) this is a very large holding of Grand Cru for Burgundy, and allows the estate to eliminate young vine production, or anything unripe or caught by the rain, from its top bottlings.
